Christmas Again

Updated: Nov 29, 2023

It's that time of the year again! the air is filled with the sweet scent of cinnamon and gingerbread, and the twinkling lights are adorning every street corner. Christmas is back, and with it comes a renewed sense of joy and excitement.

As we grow older, the magic of Christmas can sometimes fade away. The holiday season becomes more about stress-inducing shopping trips and never-ending to-do lists. But this year, let's make a conscious effort to rediscover the true magic of Christmas.

Christmas is not all about shopping and gifts. Christmas has become the most expensive time of the year, it is not about family getting together anymore, it is about money and gifts. Even to decorate my house for the holidays it is so expensive. I almost didn't buy a christmas tree this year. From almost $300 to buy the most famous Home Depot Christmas tree to the decoration it is too much. Where is the joy in that, getting my credit card to the limit, when January comes Im in a lot of debt. I mean I love to watch my babies happy faces on christmas day, nothing beats that. But this year I want to change that. This year I want to get my kids the minimun. Maybe $50 gift cards so they buy whatever they want (in that price price range ofcourse) I want Christmas to be what it means to be: It's a time when people come together, spreading love and kindness. Lets take a moment to slow down and appreciate the joyous atmosphere around you. Engage in acts of goodwill – whether it's volunteering at a local shelter, donating to a charity, or simply being a little kinder to those around you. Embracing the festive spirit will not only make you feel good but will also help you connect with others on a deeper level. Traditions are an integral part of Christmas, but that doesn't mean they can't evolve. This year, why not create new traditions that reflect who you are and what you value? Whether it's hosting a cozy movie night with loved ones, going for a winter hike, or starting a family recipe exchange, the possibilities are endless. By adding your own personal touch to the holiday season, you'll create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come. I want my kids to feel that christmas spirit that I learn when I was a child my self back in the Dominican Republic. There were no gifts and no child miss any gifts, it was all about family gettig together, making memories, laughter and crys. Lets make that this year, Lets teach our kids the real value of christmas.
